Puzzle BeatBeat at GlobalGameJam 2013

I participated at the Global Game Jam 2013 and came up with a promising gaming idea, suitable for disabled (blind) people (and scored the “Games for Change”-Badge with it as well). It’s a puzzle game, where you have to “match” musical pattern. The game is just at a prototyping-level, but in the end, you get the idea. Maybe it is possible, to put more musical drive into that idea. The game was realized in Renoise and the Renoise Lua-Scripting-Interface (which I absolutely like)! Here is the official link to this project and the Global Game Jam 2013 entry.

And some impressions from the Global Game Jam 2013 at Cologne Game Lab.

Flowlab.io – Rapid Game Development in Browser

flowlab

Flowlab.io looks like a new promising project for game designers and rapid developers and friends of trying out stuff online. With Flowlab you can quickly develop games and game-prototypes right in your browser. It is a complete game studio including a built in sprite editor, an integrated physics engine and visual logic designer – some of you will think of Game Maker maybe…

The Flowlab-people promse, that games built with Flowlab are playable on web and can be exported to the iPhone and iPad as well. So, why not have a look?

Operation Rainfall Coins

Here is something weird that Nintendo of Europe did recently. They gave me coins.

SWAG!

You may not be familiar with Operation Rainfall. It was basically a fan campaign to convince Nintendo of America to localize and publish 3 specific Japanese Wii games: Xenoblade Chronicles, Last Story and Pandora’s Tower. It started out with Xenbolade Chronicles being announced [...]

Global Game Jam 2013

I recently participated in the Global Game Jam 2013. It was fun. Here is an impression video.

Because I haven’t been involved in the management and presentation of this year’s jam, I was able to actually work on a game in a team for the first time. It was an exciting 48 hours. I was working with [...]

Puzzle BeatBeat – Game Prototype for Global Game Jam 2013

I made a small contribution to the Global Game Jam 2013. It’s a sound-only game, that should be suitable for disables people, who are not able to see, but can use their ears to play the game.

The game uses Renoise and its Lua-scripting facilities as “game-engine”.

Here is the Global Game Jam entry for this item.

Overestimating Special Effects

Here is an interesting video that made me think recently:

It’s a video by an older fellow clearly comfortable in the discipline of moviemaking. In fact the actual video radiates experience with the medium. He brings up a surprising point on why the moon landings in the late 60ies couldn’t have been faked – as some people believe. Apparently, [...]

The Making of Club Teamwork

I haven’t been posting too regularly recently. Ever since the working schedule associated with my previous work fell away I’m having a hard time maintaining previous habits. One thing that distracted me a lot recently was my work on the website of my podcast: Club Teamwork.

I’ve been working on it at least since December. Just last [...]
